The run-up to Christmas can be a stressful and tiring time, while the new year is typically when many of us start thinking about getting in shape after all the Christmas excesses. A spa day is a good way to either wind down from the festive preparations or kick-start your new health regime. After all, there is nothing quite like a spot of pampering to get you in the right frame of mind.

Here at Abbots Green, we are lucky to be situated close to some of the country’s most fabulous spas. Here are just a few spa days that are sure to help you feel rejuvenated in these colder months, whether before or after Christmas.

Feversham Arms Hotel and Verbena Spa, Helmsley

Just a short drive away from our luxury lodges, the Feversham Arms Hotel and Verbena Spa has luxurious facilities and lovely views across the attractive south facing terrace garden. We like the sound of the heat experience to chase away any winter blues. It includes an aromatherapy room, salt inhalation chamber, saunarium, monsoon shower, foot spas and rasul experience. You can relax in the all-weather outdoor heated swimming pool and jacuzzi, enjoy a complimentary iced tea in the relaxation room and the spa-tisserie serves lunch, drinks and snacks throughout the day.

Rudding Park Spa, near Harrogate

Rudding Park’s acclaimed roof-top spa and garden has won many accolades since its launch in May last year, including Best New Spa in the UK from the Good Spa Guide 2017. The impressive facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, saunas, spa baths and steam rooms. Inside there are treatment rooms, a high-tech relaxation area and 17-metre pool. The Spa’s restaurant, Horto, is another big draw and uses seasonal ingredients from the hotel’s kitchen garden. Get ready to be pampered!

Turkish Baths, Harrogate

Set in the original Victorian surroundings, the Turkish Baths offers contemporary treatments in a magnificent setting. You can follow the ritual of heating, cooling and cleansing as you move through the hot room chambers and then cool down in the plunge pool. A selection of treatments and refreshments are all available too as you enjoy a spot of pampering.

Swinton Park, near Ripon

An oasis of calm and offering a wide selection of treatments, the Spa at Swinton Park is a wonderful, tranquil experience. Enjoy the pools, saunas and steam rooms or why not try a body rejuvenating treatment as part of a winterful spa day? We also like the sound of the warm and cosy spa package including a hot stone back massage, foot reflexology massage and a neck, shoulder and scalp massage.

Raithwaite Estate Yorkshire Coastal Retreat, near Whitby

Situated on the picturesque Yorkshire coastline, the Spa at Raithwaite Estate has four treatment rooms, a relaxation room, heated pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and small gym. The Yorkshire Escape package including a full facial and back massage is sure to get you feeling relaxed, not to mention a champagne afternoon tea!

Spa at The Grand Hotel, York

The spa within the luxury Grand Hotel is set in the hotel’s atmospheric vaults where the North Eastern Railway company once stowed its millions. There’s an excellent range of indulgent treatments to be enjoyed and the facilities include a 14-metre swimming pool, spa whirlpool, aromatic steam room, Nordic dry sauna, relaxation lounge and state-of-the-art gym.
